Release Date:Nexus 6 with stunning features than samsung galaxy S5 and iPhone 6
Google's upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as Nexus 6 is back in the limelight after one of the executives of the company revealed that they are not killing the Nexus line as speculated in some sections of the media. In fact, the release date of the new device is expected to fall in the month of October and it will have to fight out with iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 in the market.
Apple's iPhones and Samsung's Galaxy S series are much costlier than Nexus products – for instance, unlocked iPhone 5S 16GB variant was priced $649 and Galaxy S5 costs $660, compared to 16GB variant of Nexus 5's price tag of $349 but Google's device earned praises from various quarters when it was released. The upcoming Nexus product is also expected to come with a few killer features that could help compete with other smartphones.
Nexus 6 may sport a 5.2-inch display as against Galaxy S5's 5.1-inch screen, while iPhone 6 may have a 4.7-inch display. All the devices are expected to have a 1080x1920 pixel screen resolution as seen in Galaxy S5.
It looks like Google's new device will have a satisfactory upgrade of one feature that smartphone users have been complaining for quite a while – battery. It may house a 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery, compared to Galaxy S5's Li-Ion 2800 mAh and a 1800mA expected in iPhone 6.
Nexus 6 is also expected to come pack with 3GB RAM, while Galaxy S5 has 2GB RAM, the same memory expected in iPhone 6. In terms of camera, Google's new device is expected to have a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front snapper while there are also reports that it may have a 20MP camera with HDR mode. Galaxy S5 has a 16MP camera while iPhone 6 may have a 8MP camera with several upgrades including flash and Optical Image Stabilisation.
When it comes to design, Galaxy S5 was not very different from its predecessor though users expected a new look. Apple Inc. is also unlikely to bring much change to the design of its upcoming device. However, Nexus 6 is expected to come with a full HD curved LCD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
With some killer features to boast of, the new Nexus device may take the market by storm and survive competition from Apple's iPhone 6 and Samsung's Galaxy S5.
According to Taiwan's Economic Daily, the device might be powered by MediaTek 64-bit SoC processor, while G4Games' reported that it might be powered by either a "quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip that clocked at 1.5GHz, or the octa-core MT6752 SoC running at a frequency of 2.0GHz." A source from Google has confirmed that the device will come with Android L.
The much-awaited smartphone may hit the stores in a few months' time. VP at Google, Sundar Pichai had earlier said at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the device would be announced in October.
